It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
